When Alfred Morris shows up for Cowboys training camp later this month, there's a good chance he'll be the only one in the team's locker room who drives a $2 car.
Yes, you read that right. Morris drives a $2 car.
In a recent conversation with 5pointsblue.com, Morris revealed that he bought the car from his pastor for $2 during his junior year of college. Ever since then, Morris and the car, a 1991 Mazda, have been inseparable.
The Cowboys running back even has a fun nickname for the car: Bentley.
When Alfred Morris shows up for Cowboys training camp later this month, there's a good chance he'll be the only one in the team's locker room who drives a $2 car.
Despite the fact that Morris just signed a two-year, $3.5 million deal with Dallas that includes $1 million in guaranteed money, he still refuses to get rid of Bentley.
Morris' car rose to fame during his rookie year in Washington because, well, it was the only 1991 Mazda in the Redskins' parking lot. In 2013, Mazda restored the car so that it wouldn't break down the next time Morris drove it.
After Morris signed with the Cowboys, a lot of people wanted to know if Bentley was going to be able to make the trip to Dallas. The answer to that question is yes.
"Yes, I still have my car," Morris told 5PointsBlue. "I still drive 'Bentley,' which is what I call my car even though she's not really a Bentley. It's always going to be my baby, and I'm going to drive it 'til she dies."
Morris did drop one tidbit during his interview: He didn't drive Bentley on the 1,300-mile trip from D.C. to Dallas.
"I had it shipped from Washington, D.C.," Morris explains. "I didn't get to drive it down because I had to get here so quickly for 'captain's workouts' after I signed with the Cowboys [on March 22nd]. They already had over 40 guys who were back for workouts. So I came quickly and was part of that. I had the car shipped and I'm driving it now."
If you see someone driving a 1991 Mazda on the streets of Dallas, say "hi," because it's probably Morris.
